Identity and Branding

The following is some identity work that I have done in the last while – a fairly diverse collection of things, some obviously more successful than others. Some of these companies don’t exist yet, some do millions of dollars in revenue – there are a few that do slightly less than that. One is a hand drawn version of an existing logo, its a company I am illustrating for, one is a book, another is a campus tour, one is a line of tool belts that isn’t available to anyone except a chosen few. The bottom four are mine, I guess you could say I am still looking for my own identity.
Bottom line – they are all identities. The last section shows the process from sketchbook to digital concept – this logo is still in development stages – I will keep you posted.

The David Suzuki Foundation has been very patient as Mark, Jimmy and I put together this identity for a up coming campus tour. We have been working with the foundation for a while now trying to get the identity to stand on its own and allow a younger generation a vehicle for voicing their environmental concerns. It is now time to get Hot and Bothered about the Environment.

What is happening to my sketchbooks

I used to draw from my mind and the sketchbooks were sometimes scary, now I draw form from the minds of others – you’d think that would be scary but often times it’s simply interesting. This is I am sure, part of that age old discussion about the ever so fine line dividing art and design – or is it the line bringing them closer.
